GOOGLE SAYS: PLEASE DO NOT WRITE WORDS LIKE ‘CUM’

Posted by KaushiK™ on December 14, 2009

I was adding some information about Cooch Behar airport in the Google Maps. What I saw was very funny, yet quite sad indeed. Google probably wants to stop untoward sentence structure with nonsensical words which holds meaning only for the pornography lovers. So, Google said, do not write inappropriate words such as ‘cum’. Oh WoW! Was I writing a porn review on Google Maps? Ok, Let’s See in the picture below?

You decide whether the words like ‘traffic control-cum-fire station’ means something unusual? Ah yes, on the internet, it means so, says Google! Their word filter looks like made by a nonsense programmer. They should have allowed this ‘-cum-’ structure at least? Now due to Google, I had to change the words ‘traffic control-cum-fire station’ into ‘traffic control and fire station’ – the meaning entirely changed. The sentence actually was (as shown in picture) a new ATC-cum-Fire Station was being built in Cooch Behar airport, now if I say ATC AND Fire Station, it means two are separate units where both are two units in the same building – which I don’t know how to explain Google.

Google is not allowing me to ‘cum’, somebody please explain Google, I really need to ‘cum’ :P

Isn’t this ridiculous that if I have to write about a cock and a hen, then cock means porn? If a dhobi buys an ass, then this ass means porn? Trying to stop porn content is appreciated, but in order to do so, if genuine correctly used words are considered as porn then it is unfortunate.
