MEDIA FRAUD: Star Ananda brings people in face to face with Railway Minister

“Mukhomukhi Rail Montri” as Star Ananda called their program, is an effort on their part to bring the union railways minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee in studio and take questions from the general mass over live telephone and they also take questions in SMS, Email, Fax etc. It’s a wonderful effort on part of Star Ananda I shall say, as no other channel really undertakes to conduct such programs where ministers would face the people in television studios. It is not always possible for us to attend political meetings where netas only deliver speeches, don’t accept people’s questions.

Like this, Star Ananda has brought Chief Minister of West Bengal, opposition party leader and presently union railways minister Mamata Banerjee quite a number of times in their studios. Today’s program was not a new one, but it’s a follow up of an earlier series of such programs. However, looking at Star Ananda, another news channel 24Ghanta also tried but they kept themselves limited to pre-poll scenario and conducted only two similar kind of programs (one with Chief Minister and one with opposition leader), and as soon as the polls were over, 24Ghanta’s efforts were also over.

So what actually happens in these programs? Earlier, the issues were strictly adhered to, but today I saw, out of 2 hours of the airtime, roughly 1 hour was dedicated to railways issue, and rest 1 hour was dedicated to Cyclone Aila issue. I was a bit surprised seeing this, because Cyclone Aila wasn’t today’s point of discussion, but railways was! Strangely enough, Star Ananda also said that they received lots of fax/emails/sms all of which cannot be read out, and then on the other hand they spend 1 hour on an off-topic issue. Cyclone Aila is being continuously discussed since it happened, at least today’s program should have been according to it’s name – Mukhomukhi Rail Montri (Face to Face with Railway Minister).

I am a little sad, as because I also had sent my two brief questions & a small problem to be forwarded to our railway minister and it was not read by the media house. I don’t know why my questions/problem wasn’t raised, was it because they censored it? Or, was it because they didn’t have time for railways issue over off-topic Cyclone Aila issue?

So what were the railway issues that had importance in Star Ananda’s views? (1) Completed unused shops in Subway at Sealdah station, (2) Quality of food & number of stoppages of Rajdhani Express, (3) various local & suburban railway issues like increase of boggies in local trains, security in ladies’ coaches etc., (4) recruitment of sportsmen in railway quota, (5) Digha train service, (6) Circular rail extension etc. were prime issues. All local and suburban and none of the main lines except that Rajdhani question. No questions on national railway issues. NOT A SINGLE QUESTION ON METRO RAILWAYS, except the same old nagging Tollygunge-Garia extension problem and this issue has been discussed earlier also, in this same channel, same type of program, with the same politician. NOT A SINGLE QUESTION ABOUT RAILWAY FREIGHT SERVICES or CHARGES.

So it is obvious that Star Ananda clearly dislikes or avoids new kinds of questions and wants nagging repeatation of same old issues again and again. I did not find any new question in today’s program. I raised 2 questions and a problem which were’nt discussed earlier, and maybe other users also raised many other new questions – all of which were skipped by Star Ananda – on reasons that there is not enough time to read many questions! These silly and stupid journos will spend 50% airtime in other issues than the day’s agenda actually was. Anyway, it’s their channel, their decisions are final. I never sent any questions to these programs, and, after seeing this, there’s hardly any chance that I’d send out any more questions in the near and far future….

Actually I have started to feel that these kinds of programs by Star Ananda is hardly genuine, it’s more severely manipulated in the studios than being genuine; the reasons of thinking so are many.

UPDATE: 8/9/2009: THE FRAUD OF STAR ANANDA

As I was writing above, I had sent an email, but my question wasn’t forwarded to minister. And I was guessing why…. HERE IS THE REALITY: yesterday, I got a bounced back email, which says: Your message was deleted without being read on Monday, September 07, 2009 9:13:35 PM (GMT+05:30) Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi: So this is it! A total FRAUD by the media. They ask us to send emails, then they don’t read it and finally delete it!

I SENT AN EMAIL TO ASK 2 QUESTIONS TO OUR RAILWAY MINISTER, AND STAR ANANDA DELETED MY EMAIL AFTER 2 MONTHS. People trust them, people believe them, but see how big level frauds they actually are! This is the real face of Star Ananda.
