The package costs Rs. 2,999 per month. But why doesn’t Airtel advertise it fully? How many advertisements have you seen on this 16 mbps plan since it’s introduction? And, why doesn’t Airtel advertise it? If you visit the website you will only see everything else than what you are looking for! Why? What is the reason Airtel is not even giving plan details, tariff details on that particular website where they are supposed to give us informations about that package?

Ok, here is the secret. You buy this package with Rs. 2999 + other installation charges + security deposits, then you also get a monthly data limit usage plan along with it. With this 16 mbps speed, you will be literally downloading at 2 megabytes per second! Means, you can download a 700 megabytes CD movie or software in just 350 seconds, or a little lesser than 6 minutes!

That free data limit (20 GB) will be consumed within 3 to 7 hours, depending on how much data you are downloading. So you finish your free limit on the first day itself. There are still 29 days left in the month. Read on….

Ok, What After That?

Extra data consumption charged by Airtel is Re. 0.50 per megabyte. So if you are downloading at 2 megabytes per second, it means 120 megabytes per minute. At 50 paisa per megabyte you will pay Rs. 60 per minute for 120 megabytes. That makes Rs. 3,600 per hour.

In one hour, you will download 7.031 gigabytes (free 20 GB finishes within first 2.8 hours). So if you spend 1 hour every day for the rest of the month, calculate Rs. 3,600 per hour for 29 days = Rs. 1,04,400/- :)

So what is your monthly bill then? Rs. (2,999 + 1,04,400) = Rs. 1,07,399/-  Now you know exactly why Airtel doesn’t advertise this package? Well, they have a 8 mbps package as well, it’s no good, same like this, just divide the cost by 2.
